I’ve got to say, I love trying out new beard care products.
So when the guys at Grizzly Adam offered me the chance to try out some of their products, I grabbed it with both hands. Quite literally!
In this review, I will give my honest feedback about the three products I have been using over the past month.
Who are Grizzly Adam?
Grizzly Adam were founded in 2015 by Nigel Owen and Tim Nutkins from T&N Health Ltd.
After quitting their day jobs and launching an online store, the business has grown and they now serve customers across the UK and Europe.
The beard products
Now onto the beard products. After a bit of consideration, I decided on their travel beard care starter kit.
As you can see it came in a lovely box.
The kit includes some essentials that should form part of your beard care regime.
- Beard oil – 1x 30ml
- Beard shampoo – 1 x 30ml
- Moustache wax – 1 x 15ml
Although the sizes may seem small, I found that they were perfect for travelling.
Bigger products just don’t work. I find that they tend to leak more, so if you’re looking for beard care on the go, then this kit is perfect.
Where else to start but beard oil? If you still don’t know what it is, check out my ultimate guide.
Out of the three, this is the product that I used the most. I generally put it on in the morning after a shower and in the evening before bed.
The first thing I noticed was perhaps surprisingly, the bottle. For a start it was plastic, which is great for a clumsy person like me. I have had enough of wasting oil by accidentally knocking bottles on the floor and smashing them. Very annoying!
But even better was the fact that it wasn’t a pouring bottle, so you can actually control the amount that you use. Too much oil leaves your face feeling greasy. Also, with such a small amount, you certainly don’t want to waste any!
What also stood out was its wonderful scent – citrus. I don’t know what it is, but there is just something so refreshing about it.
After using it for a month, I must admit I have noticed a difference. My beard feels softer and generally looks healthier. Even my girlfriend has seen a change!
A key part of growing a beard that rocks is keeping it clean. For that, you need beard shampoo.
Like the other products in the kit, it is a perfect size for travel. In the past I have tried to look for a smaller bottle of shampoo and haven’t had much luck.
Its size is also perfect as I only tend to shampoo my beard one day a week. It means that I don’t have to spend more money on a bigger bottle unnecessarily.
What struck me initially, was the fact that it is made with 80% organic ingredients. I don’t know about you, but I am keen to only put natural products in my beard.
Again, the scent was citrusy. Some might complain at the lack of variety, but in a way having the same scent for oil and shampoo makes sense. From personal experience, mixing different scents is usually a recipe for disaster. A consistent smell works much better.
Last but not least, moustache wax.
Now I have a confession to make. I am not usually someone who uses moustache wax. This is mainly because I tend to keep my tache quite short. However, in the name of experimenting I gave it a go.
I must admit, it definitely exceeded my expectations. I found that the wax was more successful than beard balm or oil in keeping stray hairs down. Anyone with a beard over a certain length will know how hard it is to stop them sticking up.
That is down to the fact that it is made up of a combination between beeswax and lemon oil. The former giving the hair its softness and the latter giving it a wonderful smell. The combination of citrus in all three products makes it a natural choice for the bearded man who is on the move.
